The National Association of Gbaramatu Students, NAGS, a student body in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State, has concluded plans to embark on the first phase of its mentorship programme tagged 'Education and Career Opportunities'.
This was made known by its President, Comrade Doubra Timiyan, in a statement released via WhatsApp over the weekend.
According to Comrade Timiyan in the statement, "The program is to cut across three different communities: Kokodiagbene, Okerenkoko and Oporoza, all in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State.
"The purposed programme is aimed at curtailing the myriads of problems towards our educational system, and also to serve as a pavement to view on career opportunities aimed to fit in [with] the needs and demands of the rural communities."
Throwing more light on the programme, he said "Education requires much more than just a university degree or certificate. It entails the ability to use acquired knowledge as a tool to tackle the emanating problems in the society.
"The lacuna in the educational system faced in the Niger Delta and Nigeria at large gives us the opportunity to think and be problem solvers," he added.
The phase 1 of the program is slated to hold on the 8th of March 2021 in Kokodiagbene town and will feature educationalists, scholars of different discipline, career chancellors, government functionaries and the distribution of academic materials to students.
